Our ‘Roaming the Reef’ adventure to Capitol Reef National Park was the perfect way to kick off 2025! From stunning red rock landscapes to delicious dining and cozy accommodations, this weekend getaway had it all. Here’s a look back at the highlights:
Day 1: Arrival & Dinner Delights
We kicked off our trip by enjoying a scenic drive to Torrey, Utah and completing our first hike of the weekend – Hickman Bridge! It felt nice to stretch our legs, enjoy the golden glow of sunset, and even see a really cool arch! Later, we checked into the charming Skyview Hotel Torrey. With its cozy rooms, fire pits, and hot tubs, it was the ideal place to unwind after a day of travel. That evening, we picked up dinner from Curry Pizza, a fantastic spot that offered a delightful blend of flavors. Sharing laughs and tasty dishes set the tone for the weekend ahead.
Day 2: Exploring Capitol Reef National Park
We spent the day immersed in the beauty of Capitol Reef. From the striking rock formations to the historic orchards, there was something magical around every turn. Highlights included hiking to Cassidy Arch and taking in the mesmerizing views from Goosenecks Overlook. The winter chill couldn’t dampen our spirits—it made the scenery even more dramatic and peaceful. Fortunately, the sun came out and warmed us up for the afternoon, just in time for us to join a protest at the visitor center to protect our national parks and park rangers.
Post-hike, we warmed up with dinner at Chak Balam, where bold flavors and hearty portions kept everyone satisfied.
Day 3: Breakfast & Farewell
Before heading home, we took a drive to the southernmost portion of Capitol Reef National Park to the Strike Valley. It was a beautiful morning drive, and the short offroading excursion down the Lower Muley Twist road was a highlight! We closed out the weekend with our closing ceremony at the Strike Valley Overlook to reflect on our new friendships, new experiences, and relaxation. It was the perfect way to close out the weekend—filling our bellies and our hearts with good food and great company.
Memories to Last a Lifetime
‘Roaming the Reef’ was more than just a trip—it was a chance to connect, relax, and explore together. Capitol Reef’s stunning landscapes, delicious dining, and cozy accommodations made this adventure one for the books.
