This September, our Peaks & Pints adventure in Little Cottonwood Canyon was nothing short of epic! Five adventurous women joined us for a day of scenic hikes and lively festivities at Snowbird’s Oktoberfest. Here’s a full recap of our unforgettable day:
Morning Meet-Up & Donuts
We kicked off the day at 9:30 a.m. at the Sandy bus stop. Carpooling to reduce traffic in the Cottonwood Canyons, we indulged in donuts from Donut Star Cafe in Draper (pink sprinkles included!). With swag bags and snackle boxes in hand, the energy was set for a fun-filled day.
Gloria Falls Hike
Our first adventure was a hike to Gloria Falls. This 2-mile, round-trip trail featured 500 feet of elevation gain, perfect for a warm-up hike. As we ascended, we enjoyed the vibrant fall foliage. The crisp weather and stunning scenery made for plenty of photo ops when we reached the falls. After a break and some rock climbing, we made our way back down.
Oktoberfest at Snowbird
Before tackling our second hike, we stopped at Snowbird’s Oktoberfest. The bustling atmosphere made for a great lunch break. We indulged in authentic schnitzel, pretzels, and even Oktoberfest nachos. The main tent offered much-needed shade while we enjoyed the lively polka music.
Summit of Mt. Baldy
After fueling up, we took the Snowbird tram to Hidden Peak, marveling at the autumn views. From there, we hiked to Mt. Baldy—a 2-mile round trip at an elevation of 11,000 feet. The hike was challenging due to the altitude, but the panoramic views at the summit were worth every step. We rested, snapped photos, and even shot some drone videos, capturing the sweeping vistas of Mt. Timpanogos and the surrounding canyons.
After an hour of soaking in the views, we descended via chairlift, with some conquering their fear of heights along the way!
Conclusion
Our day was a perfect mix of adventure, nature, and festivity. The Peaks & Pints trip in Little Cottonwood Canyon was a blast, leaving us all feeling refreshed and ready for our next Girls Only Adventure Trip.
